DART Launches New Touchscreen Ticket Machines to Simplify Fare Purchases Across North Texas
Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) is rolling out new touchscreen ticket vending machines (TVMs) at rail stations throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area to make buying transit passes faster, easier, and more convenient for riders. The upgraded machines feature larger screens with clearer instructions and support multiple payment options including cash, credit and debit cards, as well as mobile wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Wallet. These next-generation machines also allow passengers to check their GoPass account balances and recent transaction history, purchase Day Passes or 3-Hour Passes, and buy or reload GoPass Tap cards. For riders who pay cash but machines cannot provide change, vouchers with QR codes are issued and redeemable at any TVM. The multilingual interface and audio assistance ensure accessibility to a broad range of users, including those with disabilities. The new TVMs are part of DART’s ongoing efforts to modernize its fare system and enhance the customer experience. The installation began in 2025 and will continue through mid-2026, coinciding with the opening of the Silver Line rail extension from Plano to DFW International Airport. DART’s partnership with Flowbird North America brought these state-of-the-art machines equipped with real-time account integration to simplify transit payments, bridging the gap between digital and cash fare options. With these upgrades, DART aims to provide a smoother, more intuitive fare purchase experience for all riders, whether they prefer using mobile apps or station kiosks, ultimately supporting a more efficient and accessible transit system throughout North Texas Story By Donnell Ballard
